RBC: Prodimex and Timiryazev Academy — agricultural education for schools and practical training for students
Prodimex Group and the Timiryazev Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Agricultural Academy are implementing an educational project for school teachers. Meanwhile, on the Group’s fields, university students gain practical skills.
At the Prodimex interactive educational center at the Timiryazev Academy, a series of practical video lessons was recorded that will be part of the professional development program for teachers of agrotechnology classes.
What teachers are taught
The experts were Anastasia Povarnitsyna and Vladimir Vilkhovoy, assistants at the Department of Crop Production and Meadow Ecosystems. The young scientists recorded a cycle of lessons devoted to the key field crops. The course is part of the module “Best Practices of Progressive Technologies in Agriculture”, and its main task is not just to provide subject knowledge but to equip teachers with methodological tools: for example, how to structure a lesson and build practical elements into it.
The course’s audience is impressive in scale: its listeners include more than 1,500 teachers from 79 regions of the country, representing 1,050 schools that run agrotechnology classes.
Practice for students
In parallel with the educational project, Prodimex continues to host Timiryazev Academy students for work placements. One of the interns is Dmitry Pichugin, a second-year student of the Department of Crop Production and Meadow Ecosystems studying in the “Agribusiness” profile. He is interning in the Liskinsky district of the Voronezh region at the management company Prodimex Agro (part of Prodimex Group), where sugar beet, wheat, soybeans and barley are grown.
The intern’s tasks include both work in the fields (for example, observing the condition of fields and running experiments with varieties and hybrids) and work with documents. The placement will give the student the applied skills needed for further work in agribusiness.
