Prodimex and Kursk State Agrarian University continue their cooperation in sugar beet growing

April 13
The university received a batch of seeds of four sugar beet hybrids from Prodimex Group’s key partner. These breeding materials are intended for production variety trials on the Kursk State Agrarian University experimental field. In this way the university continues to strengthen its position as a scientific and educational center in a direction that is strategically important for the university and the region — sugar beet growing and the sugar industry.
The main goal is to assess the adaptive potential of the new hybrids to the soil and climate conditions of the Kursk region and their productivity in real production conditions.

The variety trial program includes comprehensive monitoring at all stages of plant vegetation:

1. Phenological observations. University specialists will record all phases of plant development, from emergence of shoots to full maturity, assessing growth dynamics.

2. Phytosanitary monitoring. Particular attention will be paid to the health of the crops: experts will track the presence of pests and diseases to determine the hybrids’ resistance to stress factors.

3. Dynamic productivity accounting. Control yield measurements will be taken at critically important periods — August 1 and September 1 — which will make it possible to track the accumulation of root mass over time.

4. Final analysis. The final point of the research will be made on October 1, when specialists will carry out a complete analysis of the productivity of the variety samples and identify the leaders in yield and quality.

Methodological support of the trial process will be provided by the Pervomaiskaya Sugar Beet Breeding and Experimental Station. Research scientist Roman Raylyan will provide consultations and monitor compliance with production trial technologies.

The cooperation between Kursk State Agrarian University and Prodimex Group is an exemplary case of interaction between science and business, aimed at import substitution and achieving technological sovereignty in one of the most important sectors of Russia’s agro-industrial complex.
