Prodimex farmers talked about the new season’s sowing
April 9
The sowing campaign at Prodimex Group farms is gaining momentum. By early April, agricultural enterprises in the southern regions had completed sowing of peas and grain corn. Sugar beet sowing has also been completed. Herbicide treatments of winter wheat and barley are now under way. According to official data, the pace of spring crop sowing in the Southern Federal District is almost 1.5 times higher than last year.
In the southern zone of the Voronezh region, Prodimex agricultural enterprises began sowing this year earlier than planned, by 1–2 weeks. Sowing of spring barley, spring wheat and oats is now in full swing.
According to Evgeny Shcheglov, chief agronomist of the Prodimex Group farm, in the other districts the farm is fully ready to start sowing as soon as humidity drops and the rains stop.
Specialists note that enough snow in winter allowed the necessary volume of moisture to accumulate in the soil, which in turn gives crops a good start.
Prodimex farms in the Voronezh region expect a good winter wheat harvest this season. Winter wheat has overwintered successfully and is developing well; fertilizer application continues.
